Choosing an autonomous platform is the easy part. Choosing the sonar payload that will actually complete the mission — in your water, against your threat, within your budget — is where programs succeed or quietly fail. That is what I do. Since 1984 I have worked every side of sonar, from Swedish Navy submarine suites to today’s uncrewed surface and underwater vehicles, on both the supplier and the customer side of the table.
